Welcome to Monastery Schlaegl, conference venue of ENBIS Spring Meeting 2017

Monastery Schlaegl, Austria

The monastery of Schlaegl, locally known as Stift Schlaegl, was founded by the Norbertine order in the 13th century for the development of the Bohemian Forest. Nowadays it is still the spiritual, economic and cultural center of the Western Muehlviertel in Upper Austria.

Beside the pastoral care of its numerous parishes, the order manages about 6500 ha of forests, several restaurants, Austria’s only order brewery as well as the seminar center, which will host the coming ENBIS Spring Meeting 2017. For the order, the preservation of jobs, the maintenance of the landscape and heritage conservation have priority over profit and benefit.
